Supporting flood victims in Timor-Leste
Torrential rain has caused the worst flooding in Timor-Leste in 50 years. Large parts of the capital Dili have been flooded and the number of deaths has passed 40 people. Over 13 000 have been forced to leave their homes and the damages on infrastructure and buildings are severe.
Timor-Leste has experienced a huge increase in Covid-19 cases in the last weeks and the flood has just made it worse, damaging a lot of medical storage facilities. On 8th of April, the Government of Timor-Leste declared a state of calamity for a period of 30 days and has requested for international assistance.
